Energy auditor (m/f)

Energy auditors examine energy use and consumption in companies. In Germany, large companies are required to conduct regular energy audits. These are carried out by qualified and accredited energy auditors.

To work as an energy auditor in Germany, you have to register with the competent authority and be approved. To do so, you have to prove your professional competency. You can prove your competency with a degree in engineering or natural sciences or training in a technical field. You can have your studies or training from abroad recognised.

You also need at least 3 years of professional experience in the field of operational energy consulting. You also have to participate in advanced training on a regular basis.

Competent authority: The Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) is responsibel for registering and approving energy auditors.

Do you have a professional qualification as a technician or master craftsperson, e.g. in heating technology, ventilation technology, air conditioning technology, electrical engineering, refrigeration system technology, metal technology, environmental technology, construction technology, insulation technology, mechanical engineering or physics technology? Then you can have your professional qualifications recognised.
