Civil servant (m/f)

In Germany, civil servants work in the public sector, e.g. for the police or in financial administration. They can have various professions. Civil servant is a status. There are special requirements for becoming a civil servant.

There are 2 ways to obtain civil servant status in Germany. This is called recognition of a professional qualification for a career in civil service.

1. Apply for a job with a public authority. If your application is successful, the public authority will then check whether you are qualified to be a civil servant.
