BK/MPK: Further measures on recognition

The federal chancellor and the government heads of the federal states have once again reinforced the objective of simplifying and speeding up the processes concerning the recognition of vocational qualifications obtained abroad. The passed BK/MPK 2025 resolution builds on the resolution from the previous year – many of the measures have been initiated or implemented. On 4 December, the federal government and the federal states decided on further measures for 2026 in order to build on the progress already achieved.

In 2025 the Recognition of Foreign Professional Qualifications Division at the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB) had already supported the Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMBFSFJ) in the implementation of the BK/MPK resolution. The team of experts successfully implemented the following measures by means of steps including:

• Provision of template notices on the website “Anerkennung in Deutschland”: The template notices were developed by recognition monitoring and the competent authorities.
• Support with pooling the competent authorities: The division provided a data foundation with the potential of harmonisation and informed representatives from the federal government and the federal states in individual appointments.
• Optimisation of the presentation and search for qualification counselling and support on the website “Anerkennung in Deutschland”: 79 advisory centres are now additionally listed.
• Support of stronger cooperation between the competent authorities – by exchange formats of recognition monitoring, for example.

2026 will build on the implemented measures – again with comprehensive support from the BIBB division. The division is named in the following points, for example, in the BK/MPK resolution 2025: 

• Provision of further template notices for occupations in the field of health and pedagogy 
• Supplementation of counselling offers via the digital information service from “Anerkennung in Deutschland”

Further, the division will continue to cooperate in the expansion of the online digital application service as well as other schemes in the area of digitalisation.
