IQ dossier on professional recognition

The Network “Integration through Qualification (IQ)” launches its new publication series with dossiers on professional recognition for teachers and electronics technicians.

Is my professional qualification likely to be recognised in Germany? What pathways are available for working in Germany at a level equivalent to my qualification? These and many other questions are answered in the new dossiers on professional recognition which the network “Integration through Qualification (IQ)” is publishing for selected occupations to support skilled workers with foreign vocational qualifications.

The new publication series begins with a dossier for teachers as well as one for electronics technicians. The dossiers provide information about recognition of qualifications in the respective occupation or profession and offer initial guidance on employment in Germany at an equivalent level or in a sector similar to the qualification.

For example, in terms of recognition in the respective profession or occupation, the dossiers provide information about regulations relating to regulated professions, language skills needed, training opportunities and much more. Skilled workers and specialists who have successfully completed the recognition procedure also describe their experiences.

The dossiers are published as PDFs in German, English, Arabic, Russian and Farsi and are available to download free of charge from the IQ Network website. Further dossiers for engineers and general nurses are being prepared.

The “Integration through Qualification (IQ)” network provides information, one-to-one counselling and training on the recognition of foreign professional qualifications at a national level. Its objective is to improve labour market opportunities for people from a migration background. Network IQ is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS) and the European Social Fund (ESF). Strategic partners in implementing the programme are the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Federal Employment Agency (BA).
