Psychosocial support in court proceedings
As a psychosocial court counsellor, you support people who have been a victim of violence. Psychosocial support services support victims of crime in court proceedings. You accompany victims of crime before and during court proceedings against the perpetrators.
To work as a psychosocial court counsellor in Germany, you need a higher education degree or a profession in the field of social pedagogy, social work, education or psychology. You can apply for recognition of your higher education degree or vocational training from abroad. Information on the recognition procedure for the individual professions can be found under “Your options”. You also need at least 2 years of work experience in your profession. Then you can do a special training or continuing vocational education and training programme for psychosocial support in court proceedings. Usually, you complete this continuing vocational education and training in Germany. It is also necessary to take part in regular advanced training.
