Fields of work

Geographers primarily work in the public sector for bodies such as town planning authorities or statistical offices. They are also employed at institutes of higher education and at research institutes. Other potential employers include architectural offices for local, regional and federal state planning or environmental protection and development aid organisations. In addition, they may be employed by specialist publishing houses, software developers or by the German Army in areas such as geo-information services.
