“Consulting engineers” are specialists who work in an analytical way and are able to offer a high degree of professional competence. The engineering professions are divided into disciplines. For each of these disciplines there are a number of specialised fields. There is a distinction made between engineers for:

  • Mechanical engineering
  • Electrical engineering
  • Computer science
  • Process engineering
  • Industrial/business
  • Construction

Fields of work

Engineers can, as a special mark of quality, receive the title of “consulting engineer”. For that to happen they must work for a certain amount of time as an engineer. Usually, they must also take part in advanced training that prepares participants for impartial and independent work.

  • Impartial means that the “consulting engineer” has no personal or third-party interests in a project.
  • Independent means that the “consulting engineer” works on a freelance basis for customers.
