Fields of work

Beauticians mainly work as employees or freelancers at cosmetic institutes, although they also find employment in perfumeries, hairdressers or in healthcare facilities such as spa and rehabilitation clinics, specialist hospitals or health and beauty spas.

Professional experience

  • Advise and support customers in the sale of cosmetic goods and articles and in the provision and follow-up care of cosmetic services whilst according due consideration to the company’s range of products and customer typology
  • Assess, clean, care for and protect skin and nails by using the equipment, apparatus and instruments usual in the profession and provide supportive treatments whilst according particular consideration to hygiene and health protection
  • Plan and design decorative cosmetic measures for the whole body taking customer type and current trends into account
  • Provide nutrition advice in connection with cosmetic treatments and offer individual proposals to promote good health, be in possession of knowledge of the basic principles of cosmetics
  • Carry out special supplementary cosmetic treatments such as permanent cosmetic measures, in particular permanent hair removal and application of permanent make-up
  • Plan and carry out hydrotherapeutic applications to support cosmetic treatment
  • Carry out special foot care measures in the field of cosmetic applications
  • Model finger and toe tails and master make-up techniques
  • Plan and apply cosmetic massages including manual lymph drainage for cosmetic purposes
